Description

We have an opportunity for a Junior-Mid-Level Data Engineer to join our Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team, responsible for data ingestion, pipeline development, data quality, and other post-delivery activities to support key business initiatives. They will also be working closely with the support team to find solutions to technical issues. In this role, you will be working primarily with data scientists, analysts across functional disciplines and the analytics support team.

Key responsibilities:

+ Build data pipelines using Apache Spark, Python, and SQL (preparing, mapping, joining and stitching ingested datasets).

+ Create connections to import data from internal sources.

+ Ingest external vendor data into Palantir Foundry platform using a secure SFTP server.

+ Define and ensuring data quality of ingested datasets by implementing health and content checks.

+ Convert and optimize existing SQL queries.

+ Ensure appropriate security and compliance policies are followed for information access and dissemination.

+ Define and apply information quality and consistency throughout the data processing lifecycle.

+ Enforce and expand use of AbbVie Common Data Model and industry standard information descriptions (ontologies, taxonomies, vocabularies, lexicons, dictionaries, thesaurus, glossaries, etc.).

+ Manage the information portal and its customer-facing resources (data catalogue, etc.)

Education / experience required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

+ Previous experience with proven knowledge and understanding of data sources and applications of data (minimum of two years):

+ Processing experience in roles such as Data Engineer, Database Developer / Administrator, ETL Developer, Data Analyst or Business Intelligence Analytics Developer (minimum of two years).

+ Understanding of distributed data processing frameworks like Hadoop/Spark Knowledge in programming languages like Python, Java, SQL to build data pipelines (minimum of two years)

+ Understanding of pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

+ Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and operating with execution excellence.

Essential skills and abilities:

+ Must be at ease with technology (the use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).

+ Previous experience with ETL/ELT/orchestration tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Talend, Airflow, Informatica, etc.).

+ Comprehension of Palantir Foundry platform or other big data management systems (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) preferred.

+ Experience with cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

+ Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).

+ English language proficiency (oral and written).
