The Lycopodium group is proud of our heritage and reputation achieved through the quality of our engineering, project delivery and, most importantly, our people.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our multidisciplined engineering team in our Melbourne based office. The role will be to lead electrical and instrumentation engineering design on projects as part of a team environment on multidisciplined engineering projects. The role will vary from office based design through to site based construction and commissioning assistance, providing a wide range of development and growth opportunities for the successful candidate.The role would include:Managing and delivering electrical and control systems studies and design projectsCoordinating electrical and control system design activities with other engineering disciplinesSpecification and selection of instrumentationSizing and specification of electrical power and lightning circuits and protectionSpecification of control system hardware and automation packagesMCC/PCC panel sizing and specificationDirection and review of electrical and control drafting including single lines, schematics, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings and panelsSupport of project managers on project controls, including budget, schedules, progress tracking and variation claimsOversee construction activities, including board fabrication, automation works and site electrical installation and testingCommissioning documentation preparation and assistance with plant commissioning, including instrumentationPreparation of plant manualsAbout YouThe successful applicant should have the following to be considered for the role:Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an Australian recognised tertiary institution5 plus years post-graduation experience in a similar project design fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCapability and proven experience in Low Voltage systems including protection designCapability and proven experience in instrumentation specification and selectionExperience in specification of controls systems, including hardware and automation works for both PLC and DCS control platformsCapability and experience in provision of technical support and overseeing electrical and controls installation, inspection and testingExperience in commissioning of electrical, instrumentation and controls systemsAbility to build relationships with key client personnel and identifying and developing business opportunitiesTeam based focus with a proactive approach to meeting customer requirementsProven ability to organise and prioritise tasks and working under pressure to achieve set deadlinesEnsure the quality of deliverables align with the needs of the project, the company and the clientComputer skills – spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), word processing (MS Project) and database (MS Access)The following skills and experience will be highly considered for applicants for the position:Hazardous area design training and design experienceFunctional safety training and certification (TűV, CFSP, CFSE, etc.)HV (> 415V) design experiencePowerCAD, EDSA PaladinNational Professional Engineering Registration (NPER) or Victorian Building Authority (VBA) registrationAutoCad drafting capabilityBuilding services design experiencePower generation and grid connectionBenefits for the successful candidate at LycopodiumWe provide opportunities for professional development and training to assist career path opportunities within the company.Flexible work hours arrangementsProfessional membershipTechnical and professional development opportunitiesPaid Parental and Partner leaveSalary packaging and options to purchase additional leaveWellbeing benefits including flu vaccinationsNote: All candidates are required to be Australian citizens.
