At McCain, the Legal Team is responsible for providing and managing legal and compliance services and assisting with the management of risks associated with McCain’s global business operations. The business groups look to the Legal Team for assistance and guidance in contractual and other dealings with third parties, including customers, suppliers and regulators. We are now seeking a General Counsel for the Asia Pacific region to join as a key member of the Legal Team. Located in downtown Melbourne, this person will report to our Chief Legal Officer, act as a trusted advisor on major business transactions and provide both strategic and day-to-day advice to the business on legal and transactional matters, focused on McCain’s operations in Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, China, Japan and South East Asia.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum 10 years of broad legal experience with an emphasis on corporate/commercial, mergers & acquisitions, compliance, corporate governance and regulatory matters, ideally gained from both a major law firm and a corporation. Experience in the international manufacturing sector will be considered an asset. Excellent management and leadership skills as well as the ability to adapt to an evolving environment will be essential to succeed in this role. As well, sound judgment, the ability to contribute at a strategic level and a pro-active approach to risk management is also mandatory. A down-to-earth personality, positive outlook and strong interpersonal skills will be necessary in this friendly, open concept and collegial environment.
