About the role:This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and obtain valuable experience working as a Legal Support Officer in Victoria Police's Legal Services Department (LSD).Victoria Police's LSD provides legal services and advice to support policing, courts and the Victorian Community. Positioned within the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division, the Counter Terrorism Legal Unit (CTLU) is a specialised team of legally qualified sworn and VPS members who provide professional and timely legal services to Counter Terrorism Command. The CTLU's main functions include providing expert legal advice on a broad range of matters, facilitating training with stakeholders, legal policy and legislative reform, and delivering operational legal support to investigators. As the successful applicant, you will undertake a wide range of administrative and paralegal duties in support of these functions.Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.Your duties will include: * General administrative tasks, including data entry, maintenance of records and preparation of correspondence. * Secretariat for internal and external engagements, including minute taking and recording of action items. * Assisting legally qualified members in the preparation of matters. * Participating in the ongoing development of the work unit. * Other duties and involvement in projects as directed.As the successful applicant, you will have: * Sound computer skills, particularly in relation to word processing, data entry and software packages. * Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to manage time effectively and achieve results within deadlines whilst working autonomously. * An appreciation of the sensitivity of the role and need to manage information appropriately and securely. * An eagerness to learn and develop within the role.Requirements and relevant information: * One (1) x full-time, fixed term position until 30 June 2025 is available * This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands. * The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. * The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
