**About the opportunity**
We have an immediate requirement for a Principal Tunnel Engineer based in our North Sydney office.As a Principal professional you will provide technical leadership, mentoring and advice for the Tunnelling and Ground Engineering team, while servicing clients within the infrastructure, mining, gas, power and water utilities and building sectors.Key responsibilities in this role will include the following:
+ Take a key role in the development of Jacobs tunnelling business in the APAC/ME region, manage the bid processes, win and deliver work and take a primary role in coaching, mentoring and developing new and existing team members
+ Technical leadership including advisory roles in the tunnelling and ground engineering sector, drawing on international benchmarks and standards for existing Jacobs clients
+ Help grow work pipeline and diversify Client base
+ Monitor what competitors are offering, technological developments, opportunities for partnering and innovation
+ As appropriate, undertake Project Manager / Technical Lead roles
+ Support the Service Line Leader in developing and enhancing capabilities and broadening areas of business
+ Degree in a relevant discipline
+ Sound experience in various areas of tunnelling investigation, analysis and design and associated infrastructure projects
+ Sound understanding of relevant tunnelling standards and design software within areas of expertise
+ Sound interpersonal and technical management skills, demonstrated ability to lead a group of tunnelling engineers in delivering solutions
+ Positive track record in client management and development in consulting
+ A strong knowledge of the Australian market place, in particular, industry and major clients
