Job location

Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons, with expansion underway to include Western Plains in the Barwon region. This position, based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services in a maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.

About the Role:

The Moroka Program is a 10-bed unit that provides specialist mental health care, treatment and programs to prisoners with repetitive and entrenched complex and challenging behaviours associated with mental illness, predominately personality disorder.  The program operates within a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy model. The Moroka Program Manager has responsibility and accountability for providing high-level management and direction for the overall operation of the program, including overseeing the delivery of the program, providing leadership and line management to staff in the program, and engaging with stakeholders regarding the operation of the program. 

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and management of the Moroka program
  • Provide leadership, advice, line supervision, and mentoring to Moroka staff
  • Oversee service delivery of the program, including recruitment of staff
  • Ensure the program team meets legislative requirements
  • Initiate and coordinate program and organisational projects and participate in committees that contribute to service development

About You:

  • Committed to mental health consumer recovery
  • Knowledge of best-practice approaches for working with consumers with complex and challenging needs and emotion dysregulation, including contemporary best practices in risk assessment violence, self-harm and suicide
  • At least 10 years experience providing a high level of services to consumers
  • Skilled in developing positive working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in leading teams highly desirable
  • Expertise in DBT or behavioural therapy approaches is desirable

What you need:

  • Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course or equivalent, or a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.
