About the roleWe are currently seeking a dynamic Project Engineer for work on our Third Party Projects in the Franchise Portfolio & Projects Division. In this role you will support the Senior Project Engineer to deliver a project’s technical objectives and requirements by providing engineering oversight and satisfying the obligations and requirements of MTM, the project agreements, the State and regulatory bodies as required. The role assists in design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems and follows practices and methodologies to ensure the safety of employees, contractors and passengers and that the MTM operating system is not compromised throughout the project life cycle. As an MTM employee, you will have access to free travel along the network. Accountabilities The key responsibilities of a Project Engineer will include but not be limited to: Represent Metro’s interest for the State and meet completions process deliverables as set by the Project or Program Proposal / Project Brief in accordance with MTM’s Franchise Agreement and relevant aspects of the applicable project management framework across the project life cycle. Prepare project plans and risk assessments, scope of works for evaluation and tendering purposes Support project schedule management and project budget management Support subcontractor commercial management, including the validation of claims, variations and execution of commercial agreements Ongoing reporting of the project progress Ensure adherence to internal and alliance SOPs, external regulations and laws (including maintenance of project documentation) Troubleshoot problems as they arise on a project – finding efficient and effective solutions Support design, construction, testing & commissioning activities Monitor, plan and execute work packages to ensure they meet quality, safety and environmental and design standards Consult with contractors and subcontractors on critical issues that impact on projects, and achieve agreement on the most appropriate course of action. Ensure site access and excavation permits and other relevant documentation are adhered to Develop and monitor onsite quality assurance documentation Identify work practices, methods, quality, cost, time, scope and activities that can be altered or improved Any other duties as specified by manager/Alliance/Project/Portfolio Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent 2 to 4 years’ experience in Engineering, Rail, and Construction Experience with rail infrastructure or operational control systems (Signalling, Electrical Networks, Track or OCMS) Design, Construction or Testing Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement across multi – disciplinary organisations Engineers Australia membership desirable Experience within Victoria Rail Projects desirable Why work for Metro?
