Security clearance: NV1 (Required), NV2 (Highly Desirable) Description The Senior Software Asset Officer will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, licensing, and lifecycle management of software products across multiple product lines. This role ensures that all software is procured, licensed, and maintained in alignment with Defence policies and provides support to enable value-for-money outcomes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, manage vendor relationships, and produce insights and reports to support software governance. Key Responsibilities Software Asset Management & Licensing Manage the Software Asset Management (SAM) Tool Oversee software deployment, tracking, and license renewals Add and manage software assets in the SAM Tool Monitor support and maintenance agreements Produce and analyse licensing usage reports Conduct audits and software stocktakes Interpret EULAs and support vendor compliance reviews Governance & Compliance Provide licensing governance guidance to project teams Assist with configuration of CMDB / Software Discovery Tools Ensure continuity of critical software licenses Support compliance with internal software policies Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting Communicate effectively with internal technical teams and external stakeholders Collaborate within a matrix structure to deliver software needs on time and within budget Provide project governance input on software-related matters Requirements Essential Criteria Proven experience in Software Licensing/Asset Management Skilled in managing enterprise licensing agreements Familiarity with SAM tools (e.g., JIRA Insight, TAMIT, APM) Experience with CMDBs, SharePoint, and Excel reporting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong stakeholder and vendor engagement experience Desirable Criteria Experience working in Australian Government or Defence environments Exposure to project risk, issue, and schedule management NV2 Clearance Qualifications: Certified SAFe Practitioner (essential) Diploma of IT Asset Management or equivalent Certifications in Project Management or Systems Engineering
