Job no: 663947Work type: Full timeLocation: Yorke and Mid NorthCategories: Administration and Clerical, Aboriginal HealthCountry Health SA Local Health Network, Port Pirie Regional Health ServiceIndicative Total Remuneration: $58,054 – $71,944 – Temp F/T – ASO2/ASO3As part of the Community Health team in Port Pirie, you will assist with the development of appropriate community programs and activities for Aboriginal clients as defined by the recommendations of the Bringing Them Home Report. Acting as a cultural broker between clients and services, you will provide support and advocacy and ensure services are provided that are sensitive and considerate of Aboriginal culture. You will be facilitating services and programs to Aboriginal people and their families experiencing emotional and wellbeing problems, including those suffering from mental illness, issues associated with forced removal, grief, loss and trauma. These services will be provided in individual as well as group settings, and you will support and assist the development of a multidisciplinary team environment. This is a great chance to be part of a progressive and innovative team delivering culturally sensitive services to Aboriginal consumers. Working with the community using a consumer-directed care approach to achieve outcomes, you will be able to work from community-based service delivery centres within a supportive team environment.You will need to hold or be willing to undertake studies in Certificate III in Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice or Community Care), and have experience in the provision of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including communities and groups. This will be evident in your ability to recognise issues related to mental health, grief, loss and trauma associated with forced removal and the development of appropriate solutions to address the same. You will be skilled in applying the principles of Primary Health Care and in undertaking community development and project work.The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working including part-time.
