GHD has a significant profile across Australia in tailings management and mine waste services for Tier 1 mining clients.The successful applicant will be a degree qualified Civil or Geotechnical engineer with a minimum of 15 years’ of relevant experience. You will have a proven track record in project and technical delivery, mentoring team members and the ability to create strong relationships with clients.Key responsibilities:Technical leadership, often in multi-disciplinary teams, for planning, feasibility studies and detailed design project phases;Tailings dam design including earth and concrete dam foundations, embankment dam stability, hydraulic analysis, water balance, deposition planning, groundwater analysisSignificant experience in scoping and delivery geotechnical investigationsUndertaking dam safety inspectionsDam safety risk assessmentsProvide construction certification and field engineering for tailings storage facility projectsClient relationship development, both nationally and internationally using your established networksMentor and train other GHD staffAbout youSuccessful candidates will ideally possess the following skills and experience:Connected network across the industry and industry profileSubstantial experience in tailings dams and mine waste engineering is essential, ideally in a consulting environment.You will have excellent communication skills and be proactive and innovativeYou will be able to direct and manage small to medium project teams and work within the wider GHD tailings and dams’ community on larger projects.RPEQ accreditation / Professional Engineer accreditationDetailed knowledge of ANCOLD, ICOLD and other industry guidelinesBroad range of experience in planning, design and construction phase servicesExperience in leading and mentoring a project team for tailings storage facility planning, investigation and designComputer knowledge and skills relevant to geotechnical and dam engineering analyses, andCommercial acumenQualifications The successful applicant will possess :Relevant qualifications in civil engineering (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering), andPostgraduate qualifications will be favourably considered.Our offerThis is a rare opportunity to join a proudly employee owned professional services company at the forefront of where the industry is headed.
