An established family owned and managed melon farm is seeking 80 energetic and self motivated Farm Hands for labouring work on their property in Mataranka (400kms south of Darwin).
The season is expected to commence in December 2020 for a period of approximately 6 months – until May 2021. To be considered for this role you must be able to commit to the full season.
Work will include picking and packing of melons, general farm duties, operating machinery and other labour intensive work in the field. Previous experience of farm work in Australia will be advantageous. Some of the work will be rolling out T-Tape and plastic, assisting with irrigation and tractor driving.
All work will be outdoors in a tropical climate (30’c+). You should have a very good level of physical fitness as you will be working in a very busy environment. You should be both physically fit and mentally tough as the work can be demanding. Applicants with a patient and calm attitude coupled with a strong work ethic will be most suitable.
You must be prepared to work day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays. Work will be paid in accordance with the Horticulture award which is a casual hourly rate of $24.80. You can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week across 7 days per week.
Accommodation is available on the property at a cost of $130 per week for an air conditioned room, shared kitchen and facilities. Applicants should note that this work is remote and phone and internet signal is limited.
Once the season has finished in Mataranka there may be further work for the same client in Griffith, NSW performing the same role.
