Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds andregulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondaryschool, delivering world-class education through its public schools andproviding funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop andsupport teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes forstudents and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people. 

About the Role 

AboriginalEducation Officers provide assistance to teachers, Aboriginal students andtheir families to support improved learning, welfare and well-being outcomesfor Aboriginal students.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness toundertake First Aid training
  • Administration of Medications – training to beprovided based on student needs.
  • Knowledgeof and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education and Trainingpolicies.
  • Selection Criteria

  • Understandingof the needs of Aboriginal students.
  • Effectiveoral and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeof Aboriginal communities and cultures.
  • Abilityto interact with Aboriginal students and parents.
  • Experienceworking as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community
