Administrative Officer

Justice and Attorney-General (Organisation site ( http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/ ))
Magistrates Court Operations – Regional Operations (00002486); Magistrates Courts Service; Queensland Courts Service; Cairns

The Queensland Magistrates Courts play a vital role in the delivery of justice services.

It is in this jurisdiction that the majority of Queenslanders first come into contact with the judicial system.

Magistrates Courts deal with approximately 96 per cent of all criminal cases, handling the highest volume of court cases of any Queensland Court.

Most civil actions are heard in the Magistrates Court jurisdiction.

The role of an Administrative Officer ensures administrative processes relevant to the operations of courts are performed efficiently, including the delivery of quality services to members of the public, judicial officers and other internal and external clients.

Due to the diversity of the role, the incumbent is required to be adaptable to change and be able to manage time and workloads effectively whilst working within a team and/or autonomously or without little supervision. An Administrative Officer is also required to provide administrative support to the functions of the registry and at times within the court room with the Judiciary.

A Justice of the Peace or Commissioner for Declarations qualification is highly desirable.
