Advanced Environmental Health Officer/Advanced Environmental Health Scientist/Advanced Public Health Officer – SHECC Compliance Cell (HP5) Play a key role in incident management and the analysis, development and delivery of environmental health strategies and policies to support statewide practice | Support enforcement and monitoring of outcomes | Multiple positions available – located within the SHECC Compliance Cell but may also be assigned to other work teams to respond to areas of critical need.

The role  

You will provide expertise and leadership for the development, delivery and evaluation of a suite of quality environmental health policy initiatives, with a focus on incident management. You will:

  • Provide expert, credible scientific and health risk advice to senior management and a range of stakeholders
  • Facilitate development of systems and processes to manage complex issues
  • Apply expert knowledge and processes to ensure strategy development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Analyse and convey complex ideas relating to environmental health policy and reform
  • Lead and promote stakeholder collaboration and networks

    You must hold at least a tertiary degree as:

  • Environmental Health Officer (accredited by Environmental Health Australia)
  • Environmental Health Scientist (environmental science, science, applied science majoring in chemistry, physics or biological science)
  • Public Health Officer
  • You will also have:

  • At least 8 years relevant experience, with demonstrable incident management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to apply specialised level of knowledge and analysis in providing solutions to complex and novel environmental health policy challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to provide expert level advice to stakeholders about health risk assessment
  • A passion for health and experience shaping policy reforms, driving innovation and enabling quality improvement Proven strategic leadership and change management skills
  • Highly effective communication, consultation and negotiation abilities 
  • A collaborative, flexible approach and willingness to participate in cross program initiatives
