Description

Are you looking for a new career path? Have you considered joining Cobham Special Mission’s Surveillance Aircrew team out of Broome?

We are currently seeking registration of interest for future opportunities.

The Role

As an Airborne Surveillance Observer, you will be a member of a DHC-8 crew responsible for operating state-of-the-art equipment in order to conduct airborne surveillance for the Australian Border Force.

Cobham Special Mission provides aerial surveillance services in the largest civil maritime surveillance operations of its kind in the world. The company operates 10 Bombardier Dash 8 Maritime Patrol Aircraft from bases in Cairns, Darwin, and Broome. Aircrew patrol the Australian coastline and maritime approaches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Ideal Candidate

Airborne Surveillance Observers come from a diverse background and/or experience from industries such as aviation, maritime, law enforcement, fisheries, engineering, military, electronics and many more. This experience comes together to provide crews with the ability to think outside the square as they work in an often challenging environment.

Above all, we are looking for motivated individuals who have a proven track record of being able to work harmoniously in a challenging team environment, have good situational awareness and an ability to learn and quickly adapt.

Candidates successful through the recruitment process are placed into a hold file whilst undergoing an Australian Border Force security clearance process. The security clearance may take up to 12 months to complete and is a requirement before any commencement of employment can occur.

Once selected for employment comprehensive training is provided to introduce new aircrew to the aircraft and the sophisticated mission systems that enable crews to detect, monitor and report all activity within the Australian maritime domain.

The Company

Cobham Aviation Services (CAvS) is Australia’s largest provider of contract aviation services, employing 1,300 people nationally.

In addition to aerial surveillance services, Cobham Special Mission provides rescue services under contract to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

All applicants must hold Australian citizenship to be eligible for this role.
