    About the role

    Contribute to patient care by providing clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of an allied health professional in the clinical area of rehabilitation and across the continuum of care of St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba (SVPHT).

    This position will contribute to the allied health team, promoting collaborative relationships across the continuum of care.

  • Actively participate in professional and/or multidisciplinary team
  • Provide a defined range of clinical screening assessments and treatments as delegated by allied health professionals and as allowed by testing guidelines and legislation and work under their general direction including using decision support tools, clinical pathways and patient guidelines
  • Provide basic education on a defined range of topics to patients or groups of patients
  • Conduct group treatment sessions together with an allied health professional and provide feedback
  • Work independently on routine tasks under direct supervision
  • Manage own workload
  • Take responsibility and show accountability for own work
  • Perform incidental and peripheral tasks to main functions and have the ability to move between areas to the level of their training
  • Undertake more complex technical or administration/nonclinical tasks under the guidance of a more experienced practitioner
  • In the domain of delivery of patient care, responsibility falls under direction of experienced Practitioner
  • Participate in research, quality or service improvement activities, under the direction of an allied health professional
  • Contribute accurately and in a timely manner to patient records according to organizational guidelines and legal requirements
  • Participate in clinical, departmental, organizational and other meetings as required
  • Support and mentor less experienced allied health assistants as required
  • Refer to and liaise with health care providers within the immediate team
  • Provide feedback to the supervising allied health professional in relation to the delivery of clinical services
  • Assist in quality improvement activities under the direction of allied health professionals.
  • Qualifications, skills & experience

  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification (i.e. Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent) or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification would be well regarded.
  • National Criminal History Check
  • Participation in the after-hours service on weekends and public holidays and in the evenings is a requirement of the position
