The Technical Officer in the Blood Bank contributes to the provision of high quality test results to clients and the safe transfusion of blood products to patients by performing pre-transfusion compatibility testing, antenatal serology, and the activities associated with blood product supply. Responsibilities include monitoring and prioritising work activities, liaising with a range of clients, performing and interpreting complex serological investigations, and assisting with the training of new staff.
The incumbent is required to fully participate in the laboratory 24-hour/7 day roster.
