About the role
The Chair of Technology & Games Programs holds responsibility for the development, quality assurance and currency of SAE’s Technology and Games Development Programs that includes the following areas of skills and knowledge;
game development (console, mobile, PC),
augmented, virtual and mixed reality development (AR, VR & XR),
simulation, mechatronics & serious games,
3D printing and prototyping,
artificial and augmented inteligence
blockhain and encryption and
Reporting to the Dean, the Chair of Technology & Games Programs has responsibility for the academic and scholarly leadership of technology and games programs for SAE Australia. The Chair will lead the development of programs and modules through the authorship of materials, oversight of internal and external subject matter experts, consultation with industry and expert scholarship. In exercising leadership duties, the role will include;
Chairing the Technology & Games Program Committee to managing the business of the committee overseeing the quality of content and delivery of the programs assigned to it by the Academic Board,
Effective membership of the Learning and Teaching Committee & the Scholarship and Research Committee,
Providing thought leadership in technology and games programs through scholarly activity, publication, and liaising effectively with the technology and games industries, and
Driving new program development and quality assurance activities.
The person we seek will ideally have the following:
A doctorate in technology, games or a cognate discipline.
Applied knowledge of one or more of the following technologies:
Artificial and augmented intelligence,Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality,Simulation & Mechatronics,Game Development,Quantum computing,Blockchain and encryption, and/orCybersecurity and hacking.
Academic excellence evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or research and/or creative practice.
A track record of leadership and excellence in research, teaching, and policy development in technology-related disciplines within SAE and within the community, professional, commercial, or industrial sectors.
Leadership in the development and implementation by others of frameworks and practice that facilitate professional learning environments.
Leadership in the creation and/or advancement of effective methodologies that embed the use of current disciplinary research and innovation in teaching and curriculum, normally recognised at a national and/or international level, that:
facilitates student engagement in research,encourages inquiry-based learning, anddevelops students’ understanding of research culture and skills within the discipline.
Leadership and/or mentoring of individuals or groups to develop effective practices in the supervision and teaching of Masters and PhD students.
