An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Coding Manager who will lead and coordinate the broader coding team to ensure the highest possible level of coding accuracy at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS), including close liaison with medical officers and other relevant staff regarding requirements for clinical documentation for clinical coding and Activity Based Funding and clinical research and audit purposes.

Clinical Information Services sits within the Information and Communication Technology portfolio at the Sunshine Coast Hospital & Health Service (SCHHS) and provides specialist clinical support services that embrace overall commitment to the management and provision of quality patient information to the HHS.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for the development and management of a Clinical Coding Quality Audit Program suitable to an Activity Based Funding environment including an annual audit schedule and Coding Quality Plan, individual, departmental and targeted coding audits. Provision of audit feedback and education to relevant staff to ensure a high standard of coding accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
  • Participate in the SCHHS Coder-Clinician Liaison program aimed at improving the quality of clinical documentation and provision of education to clinicians regarding ABF, SNAP, and clinical documentation for coding.
  • Provide expert advice to management on key coding classification issues that impact on Activity Based Funding (ABF) and other areas including performance reporting and benchmarking initiatives related to coded data. Act as an expert professional resource for coding advice and expertise to all members of the SCHHS Executive and Clinical Coding Team.
  • Remuneration value up to $126,723 p.a., comprising salary between $103,687 – $111,067 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO6) (Permanent full time, 76 hrs p.f.)
