The Cambridge Street (Vincent) Health Campus is a community health facility that offers a range specialist services to the community. The Consultation & Liaison Resource Team are looking to employ a Clinical Neuropsychologist to deliver high level clinical neuropsychological assessment and intervention to consumers of the Mental Health Service Group and Townsville Hospital & Health Service.

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) delivers comprehensive mental health, rehabilitation and addiction assessment and treatment to the North Queensland community. Our programs focus on individual outcomes and each consumer’s personal recovery. From children to older persons, we provide services across a number of settings including community care, inpatient units, hospitals, and residential rehabilitation and supported accommodation. Our team also works closely with a number of partner organisations that provide a range of non-acute mental health assistance to our community.

The Consultation Liaison and Resource Team is a diverse team of senior clinicians including the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Team, which provides a mental health service to all treatment areas of Townsville University Hospital, as well as Dual Diagnosis Coordinators, Multicultural Mental Health Coordinator, Perinatal Mental Health Coordinator, Mental Health Intervention Coordinator, Intellectual Disability Coordinator, Neuropsychology, Primary Care Liaison, Regional Adversity Support and Specialist Clinics.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to,

  • Providing high level clinical neuropsychological assessment and intervention for consumers, by using advanced level psychological expertise with minimal need for clinical supervision.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate clinical neuropsychological services through consideration of the person’s cultural background and beliefs, and liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team, indigenous mental health workers and significant others.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical and neuropsychological care through active participation in supervision, and provision of professional supervision to psychology colleagues and postgraduate psychology students as required.

Requirements

  • The successful applicant must possess a four-year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an APAC-accredited tertiary institution.
  • Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is required.
  • Possession of a Masters’ or Doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology from an accredited tertiary institution is required, and endorsement or eligibility for endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist would be highly regarded.

Additional Information

  • Pre-employment screening, including criminal history, aged care checks, and discipline history checks, may be undertaken on persons recommended for employment. Roles providing health, counselling and support services to children will require a ‘working with children check’ from the Blue Card Services Department of Justice and Attorney-General prior to appointment, unless otherwise exempt.
  • Employees who are permanently appointed to Queensland Health may be required to undertake a period of probation appropriate to the appointment
