This is for a Permanent Part Time or Fixed Term Part Time appointment with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency at 68.4 hours per fortnight.

In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

Position Profile:  Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital is seeking applications for a suitably experienced Clinical Nurse to join the Waitlist Management team. The position is to coordinate the Elective Surgery Waitlist (ESWL) for the portfolio of General Surgery, Bariatric and Endocrine Surgery across the SCGOPHCG under the direction of the relevant Senior Registered Nurse(s); practises as a Clinical Nurse in keeping with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board Registration Standards and Nursing Practice Decision Making Flowchart; provides advanced, comprehensive and evidence-based nursing care to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team; upholds and functions within the core values of the organisation of Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork & Integrity; acts as a role model, providing leadership, support, team building and change management through respect, recognition and collaboration; provides clinical expertise and local leadership; effectively manages the ESWL as per the Elective Surgery Access and Waiting List Management Policy (MP0050) in order to meet the Western Australian Elective Surgery Targets (WEST), and to ensure effective utilisation of allocated elective theatre sessions.

Specific Role requirements include:

  • Coordination of patient admission by assessing fitness and preparedness for surgery and allocation to an appropriate site.
  • Liaising with patients, clinical areas and/or teams to resolve clinical issues related to patient bookings and/or fitness for surgery.
  • Working collaboratively with medical teams to ensure elective theatre lists are fully utilised in accordance with the Waitlist Policy, assist with coordination of major elective theatre cases and facilitate requests for increased elective surgery activity.
