What you’ll be doing

The CNC Diabetes Education and Management provides an advanced level nursing service as an expert in the specialty field and facilitates linkages and relationships with Local Health District nurses/midwives and medical officers to support patient management.

The position is responsible for developing and providing high quality service delivery, in consultation with relevant professional bodies, supervisors or committees as well as implementing and contributing to National, State, and Regional diabetes policies, standards, and priorities.

The CNC Diabetes Education and Management works across inpatient and community health settings providing a consultancy service, information and advice on needs and priorities of services related to diabetes.

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 3 years’ full time equivalent experience in Diabetes education. Post graduate qualifications in Diabetes Education and management and currently credentialed by the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
  • Proven clinical expertise and leadership skills in Diabetes education and management and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework demonstrating commitment to excellence in Nursing Practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence based research.
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and experience and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change.
  • Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills (including the use of coaching) across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents and work with people from diverse backgrounds and government and non-government agencies.
  • Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching and coaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of the ability to direct the development, implementation and evaluation of specialty education programs.
  • Proven clinical expertise in complex client- centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
  • Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
