The Clinical Nurse (CN) demonstrates clinical leadership and management qualities in the provision of quality, cost effective, patient centred nursing care in consultation with other members of the Primary Health Care (PHC) team and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s National competency standards for the registered nurse.

The successful applicant will provide best practise nursing care in the assessment and treatment of patients to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life.

They will to assist in the provision of comprehensive Primary Health Care and Acute Care to the remote primary health care centres of Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS).

The primary responsibilities of these roles are to provide care that is appropriate and accessible to members of the public. This is assisted by close, productive and welcoming relationships with community members as well as visiting health service stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation including Health and Hospitals Network Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, and Equal Employment Opportunity Legislation and other relevant legislation.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and practice in the application of evidenced based clinical management, diagnostic investigation and pharmacological management of patients in TCHHS.

  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with hospital and community health providers within the Torres Cape Hospital and Health Service and beyond.

  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.

Requirements for the role:

  • Post graduate qualification in Nursing or working towards is highly desirable.

  • RIPEN or similar qualification or working towards is highly desirable.
