Assessments Australia (a MAX Solutions company) requires Step-By-Step Accredited Social Workers or Psychologists who are highly skilled in autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children living in Out of Home Care (OoHC) or under Child Protection (CP) orders to join our team of independent contractors conducting assessments as per our contracts with the Department for Child Protection (DCP) and some NGOs in South Australia (SA). The range of assessments include Relative Kinship Carer Assessments (RKCAs), Specific Child Only Assessments (SCOs) and Step by Step Assessments (SBSs). We strongly encourage candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with experience autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children in OoHC or under CP orders to apply. These roles are casual and well suited as part of your broader professional activities or where you are seeking greater flexibility.  We are open to speaking with people with varying availabilities.Assessments are typically conducted at the childrens” homes.  However, due to COVID-19, our Assessors have been conducting assessments via coviu (an online interviewing/telehealth platform) in recent times.  As restrictions are eased in SA, it is expected that assessments will return to being conducted face-to-face. Reports are completed in the comfort of your own home/office. We require a number of Assessors located anywhere in South Australia.  Additionally, those willing to travel to regional areas to conduct assessments (compensation available for related costs) are highly desired. Training and accreditation in the assessment tools will be provided.  An induction, ongoing professional development and support will also be provided. Ideal candidates will possess one of the following qualifications and experience/skills:Qualified Social Workers eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR Psychologists with current AHPRA General Registration (NOTE: Candidates with other tertiary level qualifications may be considered but will need to demonstrate at least 5 years of experience as outlined below)Minimum 3 years of experience autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children living in OoHC or under CP orders to be considered suitable for conducting RKCAs, SCOs and SBSsA sound understanding of the various SA Child Welfare legislation and standards, best practice and current research regarding trauma informed assessmentsStep By Step (SBS) 2016 accreditation will be required at the candidate”s expense, either prior to being recruited or asap afterwards (i.e. before we can provide SBS assessments for completion)Strong assessment skills (critical thinking, gathering / analysing / synthesising information)Strong face-to-face interviewing skillsStrong report writing skills (quality and efficiency)Excellent interpersonal skillsExperience in working with indigenous and CALD communities is desirable but not essentialUnderstanding of the Child Safety Principles and commitment to child safety and wellbeing, including having an understanding of children”s development needs and culturally safe practices Qualifications/Requirements – Mandatory We adhere to the National Principles for Child Safety and require all team members to be committed to child safety and wellbeing.
