Our customers include businesses of all sizes in the industries of eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, exporting, parcel services, and many others.The Global Controls Software division within Dematic/KION is responsible for delivering controls software products to the Dematic organisation to support a wide range of warehouse automation and distribution solutions. Our division is currently experiencing a period of aggressive growth, and is offering a great opportunity for an experienced Controls Software Engineer/Developer to join the very talented Australian development team.The purpose of the Global Controls Software Development division is to develop leading-edge technology to be used by our Project Engineering divisions globally to allow Dematic/KION to maintain and grow in its position as a market leader. Globally there are multiple Dematic controls software development teams and these are currently located in Australia, Canada, USA, UK and Italy.This role will report to the Manager of Controls Software Development in Australia and is part of a team that follows the Scrum software development framework. The key responsibilities of this role include+ Developing high quality controls software for PLCs and/or other real time controller platforms that support a wide range of conveyor and sortation solutions, warehouse automation, and distribution operations+ Developing higher-level software tools/applications to support the configuration and deployment of controls software products by our regional Project Engineering and Customer Service groups.+ Co-develop successive releases of controls software products in coordination with product champions. This includes the performance of complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of these products+ Undertake complex reviews of requirements and limitations of existing systems and make needed improvements to stabilize/upgrade, ensuring the systems are performing optimally+ Perform presentations of complex technical findings and developments.+ Train regional product champions in order to efficiently deploy the developed software products.Successful candidates will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:+ Bachelor or higher degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science+ Experience in PLC or real-time controller programming. Hands-on experience within the Automated Material Handling Systems or similar industry is beneficial+ Experience in designing and developing software using a higher-level or object-oriented language such as C#, C++, C, Java, Visual Basic+ Experience in an agile development environment is beneficial+ Some experience in HMI/SCADA/GUI development is beneficial+ A passion for excellence, a keen and proven interest in software and programming as well as robotics and automation+ The ability to work in a team environment+ The technical skills to produce software (PLC and higher-level) of a high quality, and the drive to complete tasks within the required time frame+ An understanding of high quality professional software development. This includes aspects of designing, developing, testing, documenting, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting this software+ The ability to set standards within your assigned technical area and mentor more junior engineers+ The ability to work collaboratively with peer technical leads with the intention of standardising development amongst global development teamsIn return for your hard work, skills and passion for programming, you will receive a competitive salary, with a stable Sydney-based role in a continually advancing industry.
