    Design Services Leader – Buildings & Defence

    With a strong pipeline of upcoming opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Design Lead to join our growing team. We are flexible with location and open to consider candidates based in either Brisbane or Sydney.

    The Design Lead will focus on both the winning and delivery of Design Services contracts across the Buildings & Defence sector in QLD, NSW, NT & VIC. This key role is an integral part of the regions project and bid leadership team and the broader national Buildings & Defence Infrastructure Business. A significant part of the role focusses on identifying and capturing business opportunities including bid preparation and customer liaison and negotiation, while also overseeing and leading selected projects and people delivering those projects. 

    The position will be required to deliver on three core areas of focus:

    Project Directorship, Project Management & Design Management

    accountable for the successful project delivery of KBR’s contracted design services to the client against all cost, time and quality objectives, across all engineering design Disciplines (civil, structural, building services, environmental, maritime, specialties and subconsultants such as Architects)working closely with the client to effectively manage expectationsleading and managing a multi-disciplinary team delivering building and other infrastructure design outcomes (both internal KBR disciplines as well as external sub-consultant partners) to deliver planned project quality and financial outcomes

    Business development and client relationship management

    form and nurture relationships within the market to support development of new and ongoing repeat work for the business

    Proposal leadership / Bid delivery

    develop win strategies and proposal methodologies that support winning new businessposition for new project pursuits and deliver successful bids of varying sizes and complexities; both locally and nationally

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential:

    Engineering or Architecture degree or other relevant qualificationMinimum 10 years’ experience in infrastructure/construction sector ideally in delivering Defence infrastructure and/or Buildings projectsSubstantial experience and/or exposure to both Design and Project Management (advisory / PMCA) commissionsPossesses knowledge of the Buildings industry market as well as the Defence Estate & Infrastructure Group, Defence infrastructure and the Defence industryThe candidate must have or be eligible for Defence security clearance

    Preferred:

    Post graduate qualifications or recognition in business or project managementDemonstrated experience in working under a DIP panel contract, Defence Design Services Contract and/or Managing Contract as well as AS4122 and similarKnowledge and experience working with Australian Standards and the BCACPEng, RPEQ, CEng (UK) or equivalent engineering competencyDemonstrated experience with Defence / Buildings / Infrastructure related bids and proposal writingStrong contacts within the engineering and construction industryStrong communication and stakeholder management skills
