The Code for Australia Fellowship is a full-time, paid program for experienced technologists and designers. Over 6 months, cross-functional teams of 2-3 people are embedded in government agencies to develop digital tools which help deliver key public services to those who need it most.

We’re excited to announce a new Fellowship opportunity in Sydney that will be kicking off in February 2020, with our partners at Legal Aid NSW.

We’re putting together a team made up of: a full-stack developer (Javascript frameworks will be helpful), a service/UX designer (with digital experience) and a data-savvy developer (or a data-scientist with web-dev skills) to make up a team of three.

At the moment, we’re looking to fill the last role: that of a data-savvy developer or vice versa. Bonus points if you have experience with machine learning or natural language processing.

Over six months, you’ll work collaboratively to develop a prototype “Triage” tool, helping understand people’s requests and direct them accordingly. The functionality will be informed by user and organisational needs and leverage ML to improve the user experience and generate insights from data.

The salary for Fellows in Sydney currently is $100k, pro-rated and including super.
