About the role

The newly created position of Development Manager is a unique opportunity to make a significant positive impact. Reporting to the Chair and supported by an Advisory Committee, the Development Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategy to raise funds to support this impactful work in Northern Uganda with vulnerable girls.

The Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and cultivating philanthropic support through the development of relationships with high net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations, corporates, schools and churches. Enhanced by the recent publication of an inspiring memoir about Alice Achan, CCF Founder, you will build on a small, generous supporter base in Australia. Your main objective will be to grow the supporter base and revenue by increasing the number, value and long term giving of major donors.

This is a part-time, work from home position, with flexibility to occasionally attend events on evenings or weekends. There is the potential for regional, interstate and international travel. It is a one-year contract with the potential for extension.

This is a great opportunity with so much scope to bring your gifts and experience to help secure a safer future for vulnerable girls in Africa.

You will have:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presenting skills
  • Exceptional relationship management skills and ability to develop long term, results focused relationships
  • An ability to plan for growth, analyse and report on progress towards that goal, and adapt the plan for continued success
  • Proven ability to make ‘the ask’ for our cause
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships across major donor, corporate and church sectors and effectively track these relationships
  • Good understanding of fundraising
  • Demonstrated initiative and priority management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively alone with minimal supervision
  • A passion for addressing the issues faced by women and girls
  • Alignment with the Christian ethos
  • Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy for philanthropic fundraising and engagement focussing on major gifts
  • Meet revenue targets and prudently manage budgets
  • Initiate and develop strong relationships with supporters, financial and in-kind. Do this in partnership with Advisory Committee members where appropriate

  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all contact with supporters in the CRM including acknowledgement and tracking reporting
  • Oversee marketing and communications including website, social media, proposals etc., working with external parties where necessary
  • Work with Global Development Group to maximise the partnership
  • Regular reporting to the Advisory Committee on agreed metrics
  • Regular liaison with staff in Uganda to ensure alignment with priorities and reporting
