Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Director or People and Engagement to work within our dedicated People and Engagement directorate. We are seeking an experienced HR practitioner who has operated at a senior strategic and operational level to work as part of our world-class health service that provides top tier patient care. The successful applicant will have a customer service focus, a strategic approach to operational management and the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Total remuneration package $166 834 – $174 479 p.a., including employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (DSO1).

Purpose of the Role
The Director of People and Engagement leads and manages the People and Engagement team. The position drives enhanced organisational performance, complex change management and maximises leadership, design and capability of the multi-disciplinary workforce within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

The Director of People and Engagement leads a multidisciplinary team and provides strategic direction for all services provided by the directorate across Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, including human resources, industrial relations, organisational & capability development, recruitment & talent management, workplace health & safety and injury management. The position is responsible for advising and providing recommendations to senior executive on the effective management of the health workforce in line with public sector legislation and industrial provisions. This is a hands-on relationship role with the requirement to think strategically and to build diverse people management frameworks from conception through delivery to successful completion.
