  • Full time ongoing position (part time considered)
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $114,166 – $145,301 (pro rata) plus superannuation

About the role:
You will be responsible for leading and managing our employee relations and HR advisory function, embedding a recently introduced people services model designed to ensure VLA’s workforce has access to contemporary people management policies, practices and systems. Your team will deliver proactive and responsive advice, coaching and practical support for a broad range of matters, from recruitment and resourcing processes, through to complex people and culture issues. Reporting to the Associate Director you will play a lead role in the resolution of workplace issues, disputes and grievances, disciplinary matters and change consultation. Working collaboratively with your colleagues on the P&C management team, you will ensure the Advisory Services team makes a positive contribution to the development of organisational capability and culture.

About you:
Drawing upon your broad HR experience that includes overseeing the management of complex people and industrial relations matters, this is an opportunity to lead a trusted team who provide managers and staff with fit-for-purpose advice and resources. Your previous leadership roles and achievements demonstrate your strong alignment with VLA’s values, ideally having gained your skills and expertise in the public or legal services sector within organisations with complex service delivery models. You are highly regarded for your ability to ensure your teams are respected and effective providers of support and advice within an organisation. Known for your contribution as a change champion, you are excited by the opportunity to lead by example and support continuous improvement in human resource practices as part of a supportive P&C leadership team.
