  • What are we looking for? The way we are delivering road infrastructure projects is transitioning, with Digital Engineering transforming the way we work. Arcadis’ 100% BIM global initiative is about being the first to develop and offer that capability to all our clients. We’ve been working extensively with our software partners during the last 3-4 years to develop and implement new technologies, now we’re ready to expand our capability and are looking for an Expression of Interest from a Civil Technologist or experienced drafter who is enthusiastic about developing and maintaining newly developed road design software and project delivery systems. This is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the most advanced teams in digital engineering for road design in Australia. You will be a key participant in this exciting new era in the design of road infrastructure (with support from your team). You would be required to undertake the following areas as part of your role:

  • Develop Bentley OpenRoads and associated CAD systems for the delivery of road infrastructure projects; 
  • Update and maintain our current systems for Road Design delivery including legacy products such as Bentley MX Road;
  • Test and evaluate new products and technologies associated to Road Design 3D modelling and drawing production;
  • Document digital processes and workflows of new developed tools and technologies;
  • Provide training on new processes and workflows to the road design team;
  • Provide support and troubleshooting in the implementation of new processes and workflows;
  • Manage, plan, resource and complete the assigned delivery of the Road Design component of projects within agreed budgets and deadlines;
  • Resolve complex technical design issues;
  • Ensure the production of project documents that are accurate, clear and concise and compliant with best practice and any other quality standards dictated by the nature of the project;
  • Maintain ongoing communication with relevant Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients when required, to ensure effective communications on matters relevant to the project;
  • Ensure the compliance with Arcadis design standards and national design standards; and
  • Work in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design.
  • Qualifications

    Who are we looking for? You will have:

  • A background in drafting with suitable a degree or qualification relevant to Civil Engineering;
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation is essential, skills and previous experience in OpenRoads desirable;
  • Experience in, or a willingness to learn programming and scripting languages (e.g. MicroStation scripting and VBAs, C#, etc);
  • 5+ years’ experience in a project delivery environment with demonstrated participation in the delivery of major road infrastructure projects;
  • Previous experience in management of data for Digital Engineering delivery (preferred);
  • Knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise (previous experience in ProjectWise administration desirable);
  • Knowledge of local authority CADD standards and deliverables (i.e. TfNSW, VICRoads, QLD TMR)
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
