Lockheed Martin is working with the RAAF as the F-35 program industry leader in Australia, providing unparalleled experience, expertise and success in leading the design, production and sustainment of the F-35 weapon system. The F-35 Lightning II will deliver the most advanced capabilities and will transition the RAAF into a next-generation net-centric fighter force that is capable of assuring the nation’s territorial integrity and national security. Reporting through to the Lead Simulator Technician, as the F35 Simulator Technician, you are responsible for conducting technical analysis, troubleshooting, scheduled servicing, modifications and enhancements to the F-35 Pilot and Maintainer Training Devices in accordance with published specifications.

Some of the key activities you will undertake are:

  • Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.
  • Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives.
  • Ensuring milestones are met and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
  • Directing the work of employees assigned from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas.
  • Maintain awareness of current issues involving the F-35 pilot and maintenance training devices.
  • About you:

    To be successful, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Diploma or above) in a relevant discipline (electronics, electrical, mechanical engineering, etc.) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
  • Significant knowledge, ability and experience in the maintenance and repair of technical systems and equipment, integrated systems, and sub-systems.
  • Demonstrated planning skills of maintenance and support programs covering electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment associated with a large and technically complex facility.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of maintenance planning and tracking of scheduled work programs within a quality system.
  • Ability to implement and maintain structured operational maintenance plans to meet maintenance, operational and quality objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manufacture a wide range of interface cabling to an advanced standard utilising various termination methods e.g. soldering, crimping and wire wrapping.
  • Special Requirements:

  • Relevant licenses as required for working on specific equipment.
  • Able to perform a variety of tasks with a classification of sedentary, light, medium, and/or heavy. These tasks may include a wide range of movements including pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, sitting, standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, overhead work, reaching, crawling, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive/sustained foot, neck and hand movements. While the nature of tasks performed may vary between locations, the physical requirements remain similar.
  • Employees who work on roster are employed on a flexible shift basis to provide the desired degree of operational flexibility. Employees may also be required to work alone on occasion.
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your citizenship (including dual citizenship) may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
