The Role

Areyou an experienced Lab Manager who is also passionate about Food Safety? Do you love chocolate and want to make animpact in a global organisation who makes some of Australia’s favourite brands?

Workingat our Mars Wrigley site in Ballarat, where our teams develop the likes of Maltesers,M&M’s, and Mars, this position will play a critical role in managing ourworld class laboratory, as well as acting as the Food Safety Lead for ourAustralia business. Asthe Quality Food Safety and Laboratory Manager, you will also use your nurturingand motivating leadership style to work with a team of six Associates to ensurecontinued development and engagement.

Mars Wrigley hasexciting projects on the go and this role will own the upgrade of a newlaboratory upgrade, giving you the opportunity to shape our new ways ofworking! You will work cross functionally across the Australian business andalso interact on a regional and global level with the Centre of Expertise forMicrobiology and Food Safety.

This is a 12-monthfixed term contract.


  • Provideleadership, capability, and competence in the areas of Food Safety across allsites for Mars Wrigley Australia
  • Line Managementof the Mars Chocolate Laboratory team – 6 Associates
  • Leads keyprojects that continuously improve Food Safety management and performancewithin Australia as well as playing a critical role in Capital Works projectsacross Mars Wrigley
  • Direct internaland external microbiology testing, lead the Regional Laboratory Audit Program,and act as troubleshooting resource to investigate non-conformities at MarsWrigley and supplier sites

  • The ability to motivate, nurture, and develop teams
  • Previous experience managing a laboratory – experience withthird party labs is a bonus
  • Previous experience in a Food Safety role – the ability toassess risk is critical
  • Ability to create collaborative relationships across functions
  • Science degree or equivalent in Food Safety / Food Science or relatedsubject area
  • FSSC / ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Lead Auditor Certification
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Point Certification Level 3
