As we drive to be the leading cloud platform in the world, Azure Global Government Engineering team is hiring an exceptional program manager to help accelerate our most strategic government customers’ adoption of Microsoft Azure by connecting our technical experience, along with our customers’ vision and challenges directly to the engineering product teams, and as a result help to ensure Azure is the most compelling solution on the market. We work across the broad range of Azure technologies understanding customer mission scenarios, cloud patterns and adoption blockers.

The Azure Global Government Expansion and Growth group is focused on expanding Azure’s footprint and unlocking new Government markets. The Australia Government Expansion Lead is part of this WW group. Our focus is on “going deep” with government customers to understand their toughest mission problems and look for how Azure can solve them; and then scaling this to work to other government customers. We do this globally and work across the broad range of Azure technologies understanding customer scenarios, cloud patterns and adoption blockers.

If so, the Azure Global Government (AGG) Team is looking for a Principal PM Manager to help define and execute on our Government expansion strategy in Australia. You will partner closely with your colleagues, engineering, and infrastructure teams, as well as country leadership to drive adoption of Azure.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate must be customer obsessed, collaborative, and be able to apply principle-based thinking to critical problems to create outcome-oriented strategies.
  • The Australia Government Expansion Lead will engage directly with key government customers and partners up to the CXO level, supporting partnerships and opportunities with tier one customers, whilst also driving large strategic and complex projects.
  • Performing the chief of operations responsibilities for the day-to-day administration and operational functions for existing and new regions in Australia.

Additionally, the successful candidate will establish partnerships and a unified strategy and execution model with the local subsidiary and provide transparency and situational awareness of Azure Engineering investments and priorities through regular engagement and reporting

Qualifications

Job qualifications:

This position is required in the Australia and ideally located for easy commuting to Sydney and Canberra parts of Australia and requires someone willing to travel up to of 0-25% of the time. 

This position requires an Australian Security clearance at the PV Level (or be willing and able to achieve a PV upon starting the role).

  • Industry experience ideally working in Government. Emphasis on those that have a mission that requires dealing with sensitive and classified workloads.
  • Demonstrated history of working in the defense and/or intelligence space in Australia at the business decision maker level
  • Deep relationships and working knowledge in the customer mission space and scenarios
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
  • Self-managing leader who takes initiative and has demonstrated the ability to solve challenging problems requiring the effort and impact of a diverse cross team strategy
  • High Technical aptitude and the desire learn every day
  • Strong communication acumen, both verbal and written up to an executive-level
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain an Australia Security Clearance (minimally Negative Vetting Level 2/Positive Vetting)
