We are seeking a talented Group Director to join our industry-leading, 30+ person Earned Media team. W2O Group is looking for driven, savvy game-changers who are ready to dive into the trenches and make an immediate impact across the entire agency.

The Group Director role on the earned media team is a client, firm and thought partner within W2O’s Integrated Marketing Intelligence & Solutions team focused on integrated solutions across the paid, earned, social and owned (PESO) spectrum. This role includes the following responsibilities and the candidate would exhibit the skill sets noted below.


  • Serve as senior strategic advisor, working directly with a variety of clients in the biotech and pharma spaces to drive integrated media strategy and execution
  • Maintain excellent relationships with agenda-setting traditional and “new” media outlets, serving as go-to for sources, experts and topics
  • Integrate and collaborate with cross-functional leaders (social, paid, search, analytics)
  • Lead organic and new business development via analytics-driven media research, comprehensive and integrated media strategy development, and cohesive PESO pull-through
  • Manage direct report(s), maintaining an open-door policy to all earned media colleagues and mentor non-direct reports
  • Mastery of earned media toolbox and how to utilize analytics to inform recommendations
  • Deploy analytics seamlessly to uncover useful media engagement insights and effectively translate those insights into actionable strategies/ideas with positive results
  • Ensure all media strategy/programming is informed by analytics and programming is fully integrates and weaves PESO throughout
  • Proactively identify talent needs and recruit top talent
  • Develop and manage media budgets and scopes
  • Support crisis management and issues related needs
  • Driven to partner with other W2O specialists and ability to adapt to the constantly changing media landscape

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
  • 12+ years of hands on, progressive industry experience, with seasoned experience working in the biotech and pharma spaces
  • Experience overseeing large, complex, and integrated media accounts, or the trusted advisor for the executive team of a smaller biotech company
  • Extensive experience leading medical meeting media strategy, regulatory milestones, thought leadership and sponsored content experience a must
  • Deep relationships across range of media types (traditional, new media channels, etc.)
  • Broad experience across therapeutic areas
  • Master-level understanding of how PESO plays out in today’s modern media world
  • Highly effective organizational, communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Understands how analytics informs strategic recommendations and manages potential issues
  • Master-level presentation skills; highly effective, persuasive and confident story teller in organic and new business presentations
  • Excellent project and people management skills
  • Proven ability to replicate success year over year in building and growing teams, expanding business, and leading clients at scale
