Queensland Academy for Health Sciences (QAHS) offers highly capable students in Years 10 to 12 the opportunity to study the world-class International Baccalaureate Program in state-of-the-art facilities located on the Gold Coast.

This role focuses on supporting and collaborating with teaching professionals to ensure excellence in delivery of the International Baccalaureate’s philosophy and guidelines.

As a member of the Leadership Team you will be integral in the delivery of a unique high quality educational product and establishing a supportive yet high performance academic learning culture that responds to the needs of highly motivated students.

In addition, this role supports the Academy Principal in the maintenance of strategic alliances with local and global institutions of excellence as well as being the primary liaison professional with the International Baccalaureate Office (IBO) to ensure the IB expertise of our teaching professionals is current in Syllabus developments and IB assessment practices.

Your Role

You will also have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Developing a yearly IB Professional Development Plan for teaching staff to engage in professional development with the IBO and coordinate enrolment in programs
  • Lead and manage the IB Examination Program including coordinating student exam registration requirements and teacher assessment submissions to meet IBO timelines
  • Oversee Internal Assessment submissions including training and support for staff to ensure compliance with IBO requirements
  • Strategically coordinate actions by QAHS staff to support the cycle of 5 year IB Evaluations
  • Line Management of appropriate teaching staff including CAS and EE Coordinators
  • Teaching role across one of more IB Subject groups (English, Languages, Individuals and Societies, Science, Mathematics, The Arts)

Applicants with demonstrated knowledge, training and experience in the International Baccalaureate Program together with an articulated understanding of the school’s responsibilities as an IB World School will be highly regarded.
