An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and relational leader to join our leadership team. In this role, you will lead the Industrial Design & Technology, and Hospitality curriculum areas within our school, including leadership of our Automotive/Engineering Trade Training Centre, in line with school and departmental initiatives. The successful candidate will develop the quality of teaching and learning and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Lockyer District SHS is a school of around 1100 students, located at Gatton in the picturesque Lockyer Valley, approximately one hour from Brisbane.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Industrial Design & Technology, and Hospitality curriculum areas within our school, including leadership of our Automotive/Engineering Trade Training Centre.
You will be required to lead teaching and non-teaching staff to provide quality learning outcomes for all students and lead continuous school improvement aligned to our school’s strategic priorities.
As an instructional leader, you will be focused on ensuring all students develop their global competencies so they can transition into the future workforce with confidence and resilience.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous success with:
The design of curriculum and cross curricula learning experiences that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA
The design and implementation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) curriculum.
Engaging students in skill development through authentic learning experiences.
Engaging with the wider school community to nurture quality positive relationships between students, parents, teachers and stakeholders across the school and wider community.
As the Head of Department you will have responsibility for the following:
Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
Be futures oriented and strategic.
Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
A mandatory requirement of this role is :
Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
