Position Information

Concord High School is a large, dynamic, comprehensive setting with approximately 1300 students from a broad range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 70% of students are from a language background other than English. The staff are experienced, high-performing and have high expectations of student outcomes. There are a wide range of wellbeing and whole school programs in place designed to ensure that all students are engaged and well supported in their learning. The school is set in picturesque surroundings in the inner western suburbs of Sydney. Priorities in the 2018-2020 School Plan focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Building Capacity of staff and students to achieve to their full potential.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Approval to teach Stage 6 Ancient and/or Modern History
  • A demonstrated understanding of the What Works Best literature and how this framework can be applied to improving student learning outcomes at a faculty and whole school level.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills, which promote positive and cohesive relationships across the whole school community.
  • A demonstrated capacity to actively contribute to a progressive and dynamic executive team to effectively implement the school’s strategic directions
  • General Selection Criteria

    1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies
