Our Role

We are recruiting a Health Safety Environment Manager for our Northern Region, to be based in Sydney. Reporting to the Director Corporate Affairs Environment and Sustainability APAC, this role works with operations leadership, relevant regional managers and others to drive HSE and sustainability outcomes in line with Graymont, regulatory and statutory requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Foster a mature safety culture where people are looking out for their own and their co-workers’ health and safety

  • Provide data-enabled insights and targeted support to drive a sustained reduction in safety and environmental incidents

  • Actively champion Graymont HSE systems to achieve industry leading HSE/sustainability outcomes

  • Partner with operations, provide expert support and recommend improvement opportunities to facilitate HSE/sustainability best practice

  • Deliver strategic environmental permitting outcomes for operations and growth projects

  • Support Site Managers and HSEQ personnel to ensure compliance with all internal and external HSE standards and regulatory requirements

  • Prepare reporting materials as required and actively participate in key forums

  • Support safety and environmental incident investigations, helping identify corrective and preventative measures

  • Role model the Graymont values and support implementation of sustainability programs and initiatives within the Region

  • The successful candidate will: have qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety and Environment Management or equivalent; demonstrate a high level of knowledge of relevant regulations, acts, and legislation; communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; be committed to supporting our operational teams to keep our people safe, protect our environment and partner with our communities. A valid driver’s license and well-rounded skills in using Microsoft office suite are required.
