Support workers required to support a social young lady in her own home with promoting and maintaining her independence.  Our customer loves food, music, dancing, football,  and being active and present in her community. She likes having fun  and has a great sense  of humour. She loves trying new things and having some spontaneity in her life as well as having routine which is important to her too. Having choice, control and full involvement is highly important to her.

 

She will require assistance with a range of daily tasks within her home and some complex care needs. Access to to the community helps to maintain and develop positive relationships as well as assisting her to attend and fully participate through guidance and mentoring in a wide range of activities including work, study, social and recreational activities and maintaining mental and physical health and well being. 

 

Excellent communication and listening skills, ability to work within a team and on your own.  Being able to develop good relationships/connections and have lots of energy and enthusiasm.

 

Duties include:

  • Domestic and household assistance
  • Personal care including dressing, showering and personal hygiene
  • Assist with feeding, administration of medication, food preparation & shopping tasks
  • Assist with her communication skills / needs & mobility support 
  • Social support including assistance with community access and attending appointments
  • Providing reliable, timely and flexible services that best meet the needs of the individual and their family
  • Problem solving issues with the person and/or their family, and the team
  • Regular communication with local team and participation in team meetings

What we require: 

  • Previous support work experience in Mental Health and/or Disability is desirable 
  • Previous experience supporting a customer with Cerebal Palsy is desirable 
  • Willingness to learn and be trained 
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and listening
  • Ability to problem solve, think creatively and find innovative solutions
  • Competency with use of a Smart Phone and Apps 
  • A current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one (the successful candidate can obtain through Avivo)
  • Availability to attend mandatory and paid training during the week 
  • A valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle
  • Availability to work on weekends and evenings is essential 
  • 24/7 support required for this customer , hours will be shared among the team

  • Hourly rate of between $21.58 and $28.69 depending on experience level plus super and penalties
