    The team

    ASIC regulates market infrastructure providers, market participants, investment banks, market conduct, trading issues and supervision of listed and OTC markets, to ensure trust and confidence in Australia’s Financial markets.

    Market Enforcement investigates suspected market misconduct and takes formal enforcement action in response to suspected breaches of the Corporations Act and Market Integrity Rules. This includes commencing civil proceedings, working with the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecution (CDPP) to secure criminal convictions and taking administrative action through the Market Disciplinary Panel.

    The role

    As an Investigator (Data Analytics) you will make an important contribution to enforcement actions by applying your expert skills in relation to breaches of relevant markets, corporate and criminal legislation. This will include:

  • undertaking investigations into suspected cases of misconduct and providing data analysis expertise
  • maximising the use of technology to analyse data, information and documentation in order to identify insights
  • developing intelligence
  • providing technical solutions to problems that arise in the course of an investigation
  • assisting in compiling evidence from investigations for review by barristers, the CDPP and administrative bodies
  • providing written and oral briefings to investigative teams
  • About you

    To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:

  • Well-developed investigation and data analytics capabilities applied in an investigative or law enforcement context
  • Skills in the use of a range of relevant software and technologies
  • Experience planning, coordinating and managing data investigations within established frameworks
  • Relevant experience in financial services, a regulatory environment, law enforcement, criminal law or corporate and commercial law strongly preferred.
  • Experience in applying the Corporations Act, ASIC Act and other relevant legislation is desirable
