**Role Summary/Purpose**

Opportunity to join the tax team of a leading energy technology company in Melbourne or Perth. Tax compliance and advisory role for Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea (ANP). Reporting to the regional tax leader for ANP, the lead tax operations analyst is responsible for maintaining and promoting compliance with the tax laws of Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, providing support across all Baker Hughes product companies.

**Essential Responsibilities**

+ Maintenance and development of ANP tax governance policies as part of the global framework

+ Primary responsibility for tax compliance matters for a complex Australian tax group and other filings in all ANP countries including technical support, and project management

+ Reporting of tax compliance outcomes including cash tax forecasting

+ Responding to Australian Tax Office (ATO) “streamlined assurance reviews” for income tax and GST, working with the Global Tax Centre (GTC)in Kuala Lumpur, and external advisers

+ Support regional tax leader with various advance pricing agreement assistance including liaison with the ATO and Baker Hughes advisers

+ Assist with responses to internal and external audit teams to support statutory financial statement compliance

+ Preparation of tax provision for statutory audit and quarterly GAAP provision, supporting responses to external auditors, and demonstrating an understanding of US GAAP and Australian statutory accounting standards

+ Prepare functional and financial analysis of ANP businesses for transfer pricing purposes, and provide input into specialist teams to complete transfer pricing reports, and review local file data

+ Preparation of return to accruals (provision to return) documentation

+ Maintenance of legal structure charts and tax attributes

+ Withholding tax advisory, process and reporting

+ Support employment tax team, HR, indirect tax team and GTC with fringe benefits tax and other employee tax initiatives, including tax advice on permanent establishments

+ Provide support on business initiatives and our funding structure

+ Support the regional tax leader on commercial matters, business development, tax technical analysis, policy interpretation, and transaction execution

+ Coordinate and collaborate with tax and finance colleagues across Baker Hughes, as well as other support and operational functions

+ Willing to travel to meet with Baker Hughes colleagues, the ATO, or attend training


+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, in finance, law or accounting and accredited accountancy qualification or qualified lawyer, specializing in tax.

+ Minimum of 5 years post qualification tax experience in public accounting, law firm or industry, specializing in Australian tax issues.
