Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel, the Legal Counsel is responsible for the provision of legal advice to ASC and its subsidiaries in with ASC’s multiple programs of work. Specifically, the Legal Counsel will provide advice in relation to export controls, intellectual property, employment and general commercial issues affecting the business.Applications are sought from commercially savvy legal practitioners with an exemplary degree of professionalism, attention to detail, the desire to learn and grow and an ability and willingness to take initiatives in order to deliver improvements and efficiencies.The following qualifications, skills and experience will be required: Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current practicing certificate;3-7 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or large organisation (or a combination of both);Experience working on large-scale commercial transactions with an ability to achieve a commercial outcome that also protects ASC’s legal risk position;Self-starter who is equally comfortable working autonomously as in a team where direct involvement in tasks is required;Attention to detail, with experience in interpreting and applying complex legislation and regulations to a business;Experience educating and training employees in connection with legal risks in order to support compliance and protect the organisation’s position;Ability to exercise sound commercial judgment with a results driven mindset;Excellent communication verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor to presentation of ideas, perspectives and issues to a range of stakeholders. The following qualifications, skills and experience will be highly desired. Experience in the defence industry.
