About Acute Care Team

Acute Care Team (ACT) functions as the first point of contact to community and acute mental health services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Following assessment, the team facilitates the most appropriate type of care (e.g. inpatient, community, crisis interventions) for the individual.

Anyone can access this service by calling 1300 MH CALL (1300 64 22 55) directly and talking to a health care professional.

The ACT is located at Ipswich Hospital.

About the role

In this position you will, deliver clinical services applying evidence based principles in undertaking triage, assessment, short term treatment and risk management alongside consumers with acute needs of both emerging and chronic mental health outcomes.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level of clinical practice and expertise in a relevant discipline to conduct triage, clinical assessment and intervention in an acute environment within the current legislative and policy context.
  • Ability to work autonomously and provide independent professional judgement and expertise in problem solving and clinical management of a complex caseload, without immediate clinical practice from a more senior clinician.
  • Ability to collaborate at a work unit/service area level and/or across professions to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities and clinical supervision.
  • Ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills.
