Hockey Australia is the governing body responsible for providing Australians with the opportunity to play hockey from junior levels through to elite competition, including the Olympic Games.
Hockey Australia are restructuring their High Performance pathways model for the Paris 2024 cycle and beyond and are seeking to appoint two roles (1 Men, 1 Women) to provide National Technical direction to the National Pathways Program within their High Performance Unit.
National Athlete Pathway (NAP) Technical Coach
These roles are being positioned as the technical leaders of the National Athlete Pathway Program and will provide leadership and direction to Hockey Australia’s national performance pathways programs. The roles will operate across the entire Hockey ecosystem providing the critical link between National Performance programs.
The roles will be the main conduit between National Performance Programs and National Athlete Pathway programs, responsible for embedding a Hockey Australia High Performance culture of the highest standard across all aspects of the Pathways programs. The roles will operate across both National and Pathway programs and help refresh and reset Hockey Australia’s Technical direction, to ultimately produce future Kookaburras and Hockeyroos with the ability to excel on the global stage.
The roles will report into the Performance Pathways Manager and lead the State based National Athlete Pathway Program Head Coaches (8x) and National Athlete Pathway Program Talent Coaches (4x) bringing technical oversight to each NAP program that is nationally led and locally delivered. They will oversee the national direction and alignment of the technical skills framework with contextual development throughout the Hockey Australia National Pathway.

You will be experienced in leading High Performance coaching and support services teams to successfully develop holistic outcomes and committed to delivering Hockey Australia’s Strategic and High Performance Plans to ensure that efforts are focused on getting the best outcome for Hockey Australia.
A well developed understanding of the technical aspects of hockey along with relevant experience in delivering technical and tactical hockey skills and game strategies.
Experience with implementing and monitoring systems for athlete development and tracking across a national system will be important in addition to devising and executing short and long term training/competition plans to guide the development of sub elite athletes and hockey teams.
You will possess an established and articulated leadership and coaching philosophy, including established values and standards of behaviour. You will be highly self-motivated and disciplined with an intrinsic desire to strive for excellence and achieve results and you will be capable of showing initiative and being adaptable, with focus on achieving in a dynamic environment.
