The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist/Psychologist/Speech Pathologist or Social Worker – Senior (Mental Health Clinician) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
  • Provide intensive, developmentally-appropriate, community-centred, mental health interventions and ongoing assessments for adolescents who require higher intensity services
  • Deliver high level clinical services in accordance with professional code of ethics and National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce
  • Provide a high level expertise of comprehensive and flexible mental health service in a specialised area of clinical practice involving the delivery of an assertive outreach service
  • Apply independent professional judgement to a complex caseload to continuously contribute to the development of best practice services within Child and Youth Mental Health Services as part of Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
  • Occupational Therapist The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Psychologist The possession of a tertiary degree in Psychology (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Social Worker It is a mandatory requirement for all social work positions that the candidate is eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Eligibility is dependent on the candidate having completed a university level Social Work degree accredited by the AASW, and that the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association
  • Speech Pathologist The possession of a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology from a recognised tertiary institution, providing eligibility for practicing membership to Speech Pathology Australia is a requirement for this role
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a government vehicle and an appropriate Licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required

Salary information
  • Temporary full time (up to 12 months with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $109 505 – $117 835 per annum
The Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service (AMYOS) forms part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Services continuum of care. The AMYOS statewide model works specifically with adolescents aged 13-18 years with severe and complex mental health problems and who are difficult to engage in mental health care, exhibit high risk behaviour or are at risk of deterioration with significant deficits in psychosocial functioning.
