The Refreshment Category will play a major role in meeting our Compass growth and sustainability ambition. Refreshment covers Beverages and Ice Cream, and Unilever is world leader in both areas. Delivering superior innovations that are holistically designed for global rollout will be critical for the Refreshment category success.

Packaging plays a prominent role in these innovation plans and is a key capability to drive competitive advantage. Not only does it fulfil a very important functional role, to contain, protect and inform, but also as the first “touchpoint” with the consumer, it must engage the consumer, reflecting the brand proposition, and delivering a delightful experience.

Main Accountabilities:

+ You will be responsible for delivering the in-year innovation packaging programme for ANZ IC, in addition to defining longer term packaging capability plan for future innovation

+ Define & deliver the sustainable packaging roadmap aligned with USLP, delivering rethink projects under the framework of less or no plastics

+ You will be responsible to deliver IC 5S/product logic target including creating a 3-year pipeline of 5S ideas

+ The position will be responsible to develop the strategy and thinking on packaging for E-Commerce initiatives incl. supporting ICNOW, in addition to Design for Channel opportunities

+ Manage your direct reports, by managing their work programme and development plan

+ You will sit on the ANZ R&D Leadership team & the IC R&D Leadership team

+ This position will interface with ANZ & global/regional Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product Development, Processing, CTI, CMI, and Packaging Suppliers, in order to drive consumer-focused innovative and optimised packaging solutions

+ Work closely with the Global Packaging Director to develop & deliver ANZ packaging programme, share ANZ insights & learnings with global/other regions and to align strategic initiatives, roadmaps & capability development with global best practice through participation in IC Packnet

Skills and Experience:

+ Working knowledge or Fully Operational expertise on a range of packaging materials in an FMCG company

+ Working Knowledge on packaging formats e.g. paperboard, flexibles, thin wall moulding

+ Technical Specification & Supply Chain Support in an FMCG company

+ Working Knowledge to Fully Operational Project Leadership Skills

+ Educated in packaging technology, engineering or design or a related technical discipline. Preferably a Science or Engineering degree.

+ Skilled and Experienced in managing and coaching people
