You will be part of a close-knit, high performing team comprising a diverse range of specialties: impact assessment, ecological, marine, communications, contaminated land and remediation management. Our team is renowned for delivering best practice environmental impact assessment and strategic advisory services for all phases of our clients’ projects from business case, planning, through construction to operation.
You will play a key role in leading project teams and managing successful delivery for our clients, developing and enhancing relationships whilst maintaining a focus on business development opportunities.
This role will provide an exceptional opportunity to work on a range of projects extending from high profile, technically complex major infrastructure, in both urban and regional contexts, to strategically important asset improvements across a full suite of sectors including:
+ Transport (airport, road, heavy/light rail, marine)
+ Renewable energy
+ Water utilities
+ Power and industrial
+ Oil and gas.
With strong environmental advisory and impact assessment experience and detailed legislative understanding, an excellent industry reputation, and a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline such as environmental science, environmental planning and/or environmental engineering, you will be utilising your strong commercial acumen and emotional intelligence to develop and maintain positive relationships to enhance client retention and growth, while drawing on your skills to effectively manage resources, timelines, quality and budgets.
You are a strong project manager, influencer, and most importantly, a real collaborator. You will utilise your excellent leadership and management skills, open communication and proven technical knowledge whilst maintaining a strong client focus.
The Principal Impact Assessment Consultant will play a significant role in managing and delivering industry leading projects for our Clients and support the growth of the business by developing and enhancing client relationships and winning work.
You will be required to work closely with our project teams to develop work programs designed to provide innovative and progressive project solutions for our clients. With an uncompromising commitment to health and safety and client service, we are seeking highly experienced environmental candidates with a strong knowledge of current State and National environmental legislation. The right candidates will possess strong project management, technical, interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to quickly respond to changing or challenging project needs. Whilst you will primarily be office-based, flexibility is a must, and you may be required to undertake field work from time-to-time as necessary or travel in order to support interstate based project teams.
+ Management and coordination of various EIA projects, including Native Vegetation Clearing Permits, Part IV approvals under the _Environmental Protection Act 1986_ and the _Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999_ . As well as mining approvals under the _Mining Act 1978_ including Mining Proposals and Mine Closure Plans.
+ All aspects of project management, including preparation of scope and cost estimates, financial and budgetary management, resource allocation and scheduling, health and safety management and engagement of subcontractors.
+ Authoring and peer review of high quality interpretative and technical deliverables, including proposal/tender preparation as required.
+ Effective verbal and written communication, liaison and management of clients, regulatory bodies, subcontractors and vendors.
+ Supervise, provide safety leadership and mentor/ develop junior staff.
+ Collaborate with the wider AECOM business on a range of projects requiring EIA advice, including major infrastructure developments.
Have more than 12 years’ demonstrated experience in a professional EIA consultancy setting, including demonstrated project management experience.
+ Demonstrated experience in mentoring project teams and providing technical support and leadership to junior staff
+ Strong background in impact assessment and environmental approvals, including data gap analysis, technical studies, document preparation and regulator consultation.
+ Knowledge and experience of WA and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks, including application of the _Environmental Protection Act 1986_ , the _Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999_ and the _Mining Act 1978._
Appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in environmental science, environmental management, ecology or a related discipline.
