About the company:

Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, our client is an international mining company with over 60 years’ experience expertise in exploration, development, mining, processing, marketing and rehabilitation. Their portfolio includes projects in Australia, Sierra Leone and Sri Lanka; and have a globally integrated marketing and distribution network.


Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Process Engineer will collaborate with the operations, maintenance and geology teams to ensure that the wet concentrating plant (WCP) is operated efficiently. Key metrics of Process Engineer success are the achievement of forecast throughput rates, product quality and reserve recovery. The Process Engineer is also responsible for supervising a small metallurgical team, and a key feature of this role is ongoing technical development and mentoring of the metallurgical technicians and assistants.

Key requirements of the role:

  • Comply with company HSE standards and policies
  • Actively collaborate and be a team-player. Quickly establishing strong relationships
  • Provide technical direction on WCP operations, to ensure product quality and reserve recovery targets are achieved
  • Identify WCP process bottlenecks, and take swift and decisive action to overcome them
  • Apply a high level of commercial rigor to decision making, in order to minimise overall unit costs for the operation
  • Assist with budgeting of operational physicals and expenditure, as well as small capital projects
  • Report on compliance of WCP operations to budget/forecast, including EOM mass balance reconciliations
  • Supervise, develop and mentor two direct reports – metallurgical technician and metallurgical assistant
  • Desired qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Process/Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
  • Previous experience in minerals concentration and processing plants (5yrs+)
  • Previous experience in mineral sands mine site operations beneficial
  • Previous experience supervising technical and non-technical personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • This role is offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster ex Adelaide or Ceduna.

    Due to current border restrictions, preference will be given to candidates already residing in South Australia. Interstate and International applicants may not be considered.
