The Opportunity

As Product Manager, you will work within the Wakulda Portfolio Management Team and be instrumental in leading feature development for assigned Agile Teams. You will join the Systems Engineering Integration and Test Capability and provide engineering support to the Boeing Defence Australia Wakulda Program located at Williamtown, NSW. This role offers an exciting opportunity to directly engage with the customer and program leadership to deliver the future of Air Battlespace Management.

The Wakulda System is a world-leading Air Defence C2 System. It is a network-centric ground-based air surveillance and control system, which supports C4ISR capabilities to conduct surveillance and air battlespace management missions. Boeing is responsible for delivering spiral upgrades over the next five years in a fast paced, agile and responsive development and sustainment environment, while maximizing mission availability for the Australian Defence Force. This role can be performed from our Brisbane, Adelaide or Newcastle (Williamtown) locations.


  • As the Product Manager, directly engage with the customer to scope, define and prioritize requirements in order to develop features for the Agile Release Train to execute
  • Work collaboratively with program leadership to plan feature development within each Program Increment in alignment with the System Development Master Plan
  • Interface with interdisciplinary Agile Teams to support planned feature development within each Program Increment including stretch targets
  • Proactively identify and mitigate program risks
  • Develop, review and approve systems engineering documentation and artefacts
  • Prepare and produce Agile artefacts such as product roadmaps, capability and feature documentation, including success criteria, lean business cases and benefit hypothesis


  • Scaled Agile experience as Scrum Master, Product Owner or Product Manager desirable
  • Experience in delivering complex integrated systems
  • Experience with applying Model Based Systems Engineering
  • The ability to work independently across a wide range of tasks and competencies
  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to influence outcomes in a team environment
  • Previous experience working on Defence programs, particularly air battlespace management, command and control systems, software development or acquisition programs (desirable)
  • Tertiary degree in engineering with relevant discipline experience. (RPEQ &/or CPEng desirable).
  • Minimum Baseline security clearance, NV1 or higher preferred
